The Luther Award

An annual award presented to radio stations in Tennessee demonstrating a commitment to its community through outstanding service.

The Luther Community Service Award is an annual award presented to one radio station each year in Tennessee that has demonstrated a commitment to its community through outstanding service.

The award honors the legacy of Luther Masingill, who served the Chattanooga area for over 70 years. The award is designed to recognize radio stations that go above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to community service. The winning station will have consistently provided exceptional levels of community engagement and involvement throughout the year. It is not enough to simply run public service announcements or conduct a once-per-year radiothon; the winning station will have shown a depth of service, enabling and participating in all segments of the community.

Any Tennessee radio station that has demonstrated a commitment to service is eligible to apply. The winner will be selected by a panel of judges and will receive a plaque commemorating their achievement at our annual induction ceremony. We invite all Tennessee radio stations to apply for the Luther Community Service Award and join us in honoring the legacy of Luther Masingill and the important role radio stations play in their communities.

Luther Masingill is a member of the National Radio Hall of Fame and was inducted as a member of the inaugural class of the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame in 2012.
